Delete Account & Manage Data

You are in control of your Budget AI account. This page explains how to delete your account, what gets removed, and how to request access to or export your data.

How to delete your account

You can permanently delete your account from inside the Budget AI app on iOS or Android. No web sign-in is required.

  1. Open the Budget AI app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings and tap All Wallets.
  3. Delete every wallet you own (open the wallet, then tap Delete Wallet). Wallets shared with you do not need to be deleted — you can simply leave them.
  4. Once you have no owned wallets, scroll to the bottom of All Wallets and tap the red Delete Account button.
  5. Confirm the two warning dialogs to permanently delete your account.
Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Your wallets, transactions, categories, budgets, goals, receipts, and profile information are removed from our production database.

What gets deleted

  • Profile data: name, email, phone number, profile picture.
  • All wallets you own and every transaction inside them.
  • Categories, budgets, savings goals, and recurring rules.
  • Receipts and any attachments uploaded to your account.
  • Pending wallet invitations sent to or from you.
  • Authentication records and session tokens.

What we may retain

A limited set of data may be kept after deletion only where the law requires it or to protect the service:

  • Billing and tax records for purchases made through Apple App Store or Google Play, retained as required by accounting and tax regulations.
  • Anonymised analytics that can no longer be linked back to you.
  • Abuse and fraud prevention records, retained only as long as needed to keep the service safe.

Subscription cancellations are handled by Apple or Google. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription — manage it from your device's App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

Access, correction & export

Under applicable privacy laws (including the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and equivalent regulations in your region), you can ask us to:

  • Confirm what personal data we hold about you.
  • Provide a copy of that data in a portable format.
  • Correct data that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Delete specific data without closing your whole account.
  • Withdraw consent for direct marketing.

Email hello@budgetai.ai from the address linked to your Budget AI account. We respond within 14 business days after verifying your identity.

Can't access the app?

If you no longer have access to the device or login used to create your account, email hello@budgetai.ai with the email address or phone number registered on the account. We will verify ownership and process the deletion on your behalf.
